Rare chance to holiday in the centre of Vannes City - sleeps 10

Vannes - the walls from the gardens, simply stunning location to explore

This family home is being offered for five weeks during the beginning of the summer holidays and offers a very rare chance to live like the French city dwellers.  Only a 500m walk to the centre of Vannes, a medieval city with buildings dating back to 13th century.  Markets twice a week will entice you to buy in your fresh foods and wander amongst the locals.  Only 700m to the port with all the wonderful restaurants.

No outside pictures are available as it is a typical city house and not able to photograph well and the garden in winter was bare so none of that either.  However the internal of the house is very modern with and with five bedrooms is ideal for large family holidays in the city of Vannes.

Downstairs is large and light.  There is a twin bedroom on this floor with built in wardrobes (some toys and games will be available in the cupboard).  Also at the front of the house is the large dining room with six chairs (another four are available)

Next room is the living room which has lovely big windows one leading on to the patio and garden (BBQ available) and the other leading on to the drive which has private and gated secure parking for up to three cars).  There is a toilet and shower room downstairs.

The modern kitchen has free standing solid wood units and comprises of an electric oven with glass plate hob, dishwasher, Belfast sink, and large fridge freezer, door leads out to the patio and garden beyond.  The garden is fully enclosed.

upstairs there is a large light hallway and a further four bedrooms, one double, two twins (beds can be pushed together), one single and a further room with one single and baby cot.  So sleeping ten plus baby.  Further baby equipment will be available on demand.

The double room has its own small balcony overlooking the side of the house.  There is a family bathroom with bath and shower head, plus separate WC, washing machine is also upstairs and there is a separate laundry room for ironing etc. The house also has WiFi to be used with your own equipment.

Bed linen is included and personal towels can be rented at 5 per person.

The City of Vannes dates from the first century B.C. when it was known as Darioritum and like many of the important Breton towns the original "old town" is situated within the fortified city walls. Large sections of the ramparts still remain and walking around these offers exceptional views of the town. At the centre of the old town lies the cathedral whose construction was started in the 13th century. Among the many sites to see within the walls is the Morbihan Archaeological Museum which gives a fascinating insight into early settlements in Brittany with examples from excavations at the many megalithic sites such as Carnac.  Situated at the head of the Gulf of Morbihan, Vannes has a large port area. The visitor is free to meander around the port simply looking at the boats or may take one of the many boat excursions on offer.  Vannes has a good selection of restaurants and shops and the tourist office runs themed tours of the town throughout the year. In the countryside around Vannes there are a number of castles and nature reserves where the visitor can pass a pleasant time in the calm surroundings.

With its ramparts built in the 14thC and 15thC, La Tour du Connetable, the medieval town, the Saint-Pierre Cathedral, the museum of Les Beaux-Arts, the Prehistoric Museum, Vannes forms a unique architectural grouping.

The fabulous market in Vannes is held twice a week, Saturday and Wednesday mornings.  There is also a covered market which is open every day.  You will be able to walk to the numerous restaurants, bars and places of entertainment  The sandy beaches are a short 5km drive or you can cycle if you fancy it.  There is also a huge indoor waterpark which is only 1.5 kms from the house. The beaches around Sn are only 5kms.
