Le Stang Cottage nr Bubry
Sleeps 6 If it's silence and tranquillity you seek, then apart from birdsong, this is an ideal cottage for your holiday. Set in 5 acres of garden and meadows on a cul-de-sac, four kilometres from the village of Bubry, this stone cottage is as private as it gets. It has a modern, fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle. The dining area seats six at the solid oak dining table. Click to enlarge any photo The lounge has Sky, TV, DVD, log-burning fire, comfortable seating and original features, like the beams and exposed stone walls remain. The family shower room is also downstairs, with shower, toilet and wash basin. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, two twin rooms and one large double room with a king size bed. Outside you will find ample areas to sit and relax with a good book in the quiet countryside. There are pretty gardens at the front and back of the cottage which are shaded by fruit trees, oaks and sweet chestnuts. A range of garden furniture is available for guests' use, as well as a decked terrace with a pergola for dining alfresco.
The back garden has a set of children's wooden play equipment, comprising a double swing, a knotted climbing rope and a rope ladder. There is a Barbeque, as well as Badminton Set, Boules Set & Swing Ball. For anyone wishing a fire, there is ample supply of logs for a small fee. Guests are welcome to explore the gardens and grounds, including the surrounding five acres of open fields. You might even spot rabbits, hares, deer and birds such as buzzards, green woodpeckers, jays and swallows. You will also find a welcome pack awaiting you, consisting of: A bottle of red and white wine, bread, butter, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and some dishwasher tablets to start you off. Location The local village of Bubry has a good supermarket, three bakeries, a butcher, several bars and a tabac. Some excellent restaurants can be found nearby. Every second and fourth Wednesday in the month, Bubry has a market which sells local produce - and throughout the week, there are several larger markets to explore in neighbouring towns. Le Stang is ideally located for exploring the wonderful Breton countryside. Numerous footpaths and cycle ways pass near to the cottage - more adventurous walkers and cyclists will find a large-scale map and magnetic compass have been provided! You can also walk, cycle or take a boat trip up the nearby River Blavet, and the village of Pont Augan has kayak and cycle hire. River fishing permits for all rivers in Morbihan can be bought in Bubry. The picturesque Lac du Guerledan is a 30-minute drive to the north. You can swim, take boat trips, hire pedalos & kayaks or just sunbathe on one of the beaches. The nearest coastal beaches (also a 30-minute drive) are to the west of Lorient at Guidel and Larmor-Plage. A little further away (40-50 minutes) are the more popular resorts of Carnac and Quiberon.
