La Petite Cour is a former agricultural worker's cottage in a rural position beside a country road. It is suitable for a couple - regrettably not for children or the very elderly as the staircase is open at one side.

The open plan ground floor is the main living area. English Freeview TV and a radio/CD player are provided. A wood burning stove will keep you cosy if it gets chilly, with additional electric heaters if needed. The settee converts to a comfortable bed for an occasional visitor.

The kitchen is fully fitted with gas cooker, microwave oven and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. 

The attic bedroom has south-facing Velux roof windows. It is simply furnished with a double bed, blanket chest and built-in wardrobe and shelves. Bed linen and personal towels are included.

The ground floor bathroom has an integral granite outcrop in the floor (great for granite lovers!), WC, wash basin and a bath with a shower attachment. The washing machine is in a curtained alcove.

There is a sunny courtyard at the front of the house with garden furniture and a small BBQ. Steps lead up to a little garden. A parking area is adjacent.

AREA

5 minutes away is an excellent boulangerie at Lignol, and 6 minutes away, the local town, Guemene sur Scorff with a range of local shops, banks, restaurants and two supermarkets, one of which (Intermarche) sells petrol and diesel.

The area is ideal walking and cycling country. You can meander through the local lanes, villages and forests and along the many footpaths and cycle tracks. The Nantes-Brest Canal can be accessed about 20k away. You can spend a whole day walking or cycling alongside the canal, on well-maintained old towpaths. (If you bring your bicycles with you there is a padlocked shed to store them).

Pontivy, about 30 minutes away, has a large range of shops and restaurants and an historic chateau open to visitors. It is a very pleasant place to spend the day. If you're into chateaux, a day trip to Josselin, Suscinio or Elven, to name but a few, should please you. 

Also for history lovers are the famous standing stones at Carnac and Erdeven; the medieval village at Melrand and a re-created 19th century Breton village at Poul-Fetan; museums of art (Le Faouet is the nearest), the Resistance in Brittany (St Marcel and St. Conan); the history of the East India Company (Port Louis) and many more.

At the beginning of August you can see the amazing Son et Lumiere at the Abbey of Bon Repos. Well worth a visit. Take cushions, warm clothes and a picnic and be prepared to stay up late!

For animal lovers, visit the Haras National at Hennebont where you can meet Breton horses. There are also riding stables in the vicinity, a zoo at Pont Scorff and several animal parks, including the Parc Aquanature at Priziac. 

You can fish in the local lakes and rivers once you've purchased a permit. These can be obtained online, at most local bar/tabacs or from fishing tackle and sports shops.

The spectacular south coast beaches are an hour away. From Vannes or Lorient you can take boat trips up the local rivers or out to the islands.  Information leaflets about all the above and more, including local restaurants, are in the cottage.  So much to see and do! Or you can just do nothing; you're on holiday after all.
